QuartzComposer CustomCategories

There are two different ways to set a custom category for FX loaded into VDMX - using one of the pre-defined categories from Apple or by creating your own category name. Any FX patches that have the same category tag will automatically be grouped together in the FX Manager palette in VDMX.

Using a pre-defined category

The first is by using one of the three pre-defined FX categories from Apple- Distortion, Stylize, or Utility. To use one of these categories:

1) Choose the Editor > Edit Protocol Conformance menu option.

2) Select the desired category from the pop-up menu in the panel that appears.

Using a custom category name

If the pre-defined categories aren't enough, you can create your own custom category to use with VDMX.

1) Choose the Editor > Edit Information menu option.

2) Click the + button to create a new row and set its class to the String.

3) Set the property key to "category" (no quotes).

4) Set the value text field to the name of the category you would like to use for this FX.
