I'm running an all analog driven laser show. My laser uses 5 channels of audio to operate, two for the position of the beam, and three for the colors RGB.
I've been playing the audio out of Logic into my laser system and it works perfectly.
Now I want to be able to cut up my favorite clips in logic and export them as individual surround files to be used in VDMX so i can switch from one clip to another in a live context, with crossfading.
Does VDMX import audio directly, or does the audio have to be inside a quicktime movie to be able to use it with VDMX?
If the latter, can i prepare quicktime clips with 5.1 audio and then import them into VDMX, and have VDMX output the audio to channels 1 - 5 of my audio interface?
I'm having trouble figuring out how to export my 5 mono tracks from logic into a single surround file, but perhaps this is the wrong forum to get help with that. Lets suppose i figure that part out, is there anything i need to sort out when i import a 5.1 audio embedded quicktime movie into VDMX to get it to output to the correct outs? I see right now in the preferences that it only lets me select a stereo output track, but I think i've seen similar threads on this topic before, and its my understanding that if a quicktime file already has a 5.1 surround audio track, then VDMX will route the audio to the same outputs that it has if its played in quicktime player..
my first post in here, i really look forward to VDMX allowing me to expand my live show.
