Hi all,
I've been a long time VDMX user, but somehow my account was disabled so this is my first on this account.
I'm running into an issue with the Step Sequencer that causes my output to freeze for 0-4 seconds. I can see the delay in the feedback of the interface as well; the selected preset of the sequencer displays as selected (changes color) a little bit later than the moment I that I’ve triggered it.
I've set it up as follows: The Step Sequencer has different presets that I trigger during a live performance. It sends out booleans.
Some of the presets have a lot of tracks and columns, but others have less. This varies from 1 column, to 20 columns. There are always 42 tracks. When I switch from a preset that has a different amount of columns than the one that is currently playing, the freezing occurs. If the amount of columns is the same while switching presets, it doesn't happen.
It also seems to happen when switching from a preset with a lot of columns back to a preset with only a few, not the other way around.
This tells me it's a problem with loading the tracks/columns or with loading the interface data that goes along with that.
Knowing this I've tried to find a workaround within VDMX.
One of the things I tried was making all of the presets have the same amount of columns, and then changing the 'Time' parameter of the Step Sequencer per preset to match the length that I need. So with a preset of 20 columns the 'Time' value would be 1 and with a preset of 10 columns it would be 0,5.
This works in theory, but I would require to create local presets of the 'Time' parameter and those presets have to be triggered at the same time as the main preset of the Step Sequencer. Not the cleanest solution.
It's also not an option for my setup becauseI'm already using local presets on the 'Time' parameter to control the playhead. (it is attached to various LFO's, so I can play the Step Sequencer back forward/backward/random etc..)
I'd like to find a way to be able to trigger various, presets of the Step Sequencer with quite an amount of tracks & colums that can (individually) be played back in various ways, without it being to CPU intensive that it causes the program to freeze for a moment.
Anyone that has any ideas about this?
Within the tools that VDMX has to offer, and that I'm familiar with, I'm pretty much out of ideas.
