hello ray and dave...
i am fairly new to VDMX but i have played with it a lot since i got it and i've already stumbled upon a few things that didn't work for me the way i wanted them to. i was able to solve a few of those issue thru the osc/midi "interface" talking to max patch in the background...but still.....here are a few rants about personal usability issues...
PRESETS
besides a "Layer FX" preset that stores only the fx chains and a "Layers" preset that stroes everything that has to do with layers, why is there no "Layer Composition" preset that stores only the order and blendmodes and leaves the Layer FX alone? e.g. if i want to keep the fx as they are at a very moment and quickly switch the layer order or composition modes, right nix there is no other way than dragging the layers with the mouse, which feels a little clumsier than just hitting a button...
DATA SOURCES
it would be great to be able to switch a slider to a certain data source not only by right-cicking-and-scrolling-and-clicking to the source. maybe a button next to each slider to cycle through all data sources? maybe a "listen" button next to a slider and when you push it, the slider listens for source that can be picked up? i know - the button/slider inspector does that - but in addition to MIDI/Key/OSC-Detect why not a "Source Detect" that also detects e.g. other sliders? maybe a popup window instead of a weird overlay that *always* has to be scrolled to find the desired data source...many ideas...but i cant decide which one would be best...
keep up the inspiring work!
