Hi!
I ve been VJing on my macbook air (yes, i know).
it needs no explaining that i cant run too many layers, effects, or anything at all when in high resolution.
I am therefore planning to significantly update my setup. the problem is, the only thing i can upgrade my Air with is more spacious SDD hard drive and ram (i think) while i probably need a dedicated graphics card.
So, my model is 2013 Air with Intel i7 1.7ghz (quadcore i believe), 4mb Ll3 cache, 8gb ram, and intel hd graphics 5000. the computer s got thunderbolt 1.
i know i can connect an external graphics card to it via a special enclosure, but im not sure about how much will that improve the performance.
Anyone has any technical insight or experience into this? as far as i heard, it makes some sense when you re on macbook pro with thunderbolt 3. not sure how would it translate in this scenario. anyone?
second option i ve been researching lately is building my own hackintosh. probably something like this:
https://www.tonymacx86.com/buyersguide/ ... ini_Deluxe
it is not too big so i could carry it around gigs and it seems that hardware-wise it overscores latest mac book pro (or even mac pro?) easily
but than, its officially not meant to work and i just dont know how all the drivers and scripts and all that influence the effectivity of the hardware. any insights anyone?
if you have any other suggestions (besides getting mac book pro 2017), id be much obliged
cheers
