I just acquired a new midi controller, the Behringer CDM PL-1, to try out before possibly buying one for each layer. IMHO its one of the best single layer controllers i've ever seen, with feedback on all controls but the jog wheel. The only way it could be any better is if the fader were motorized. Well, and if it was OSC native, but I digress.
So far i've had two big problems I havent figured out a way to overcome.
First, the fader is on the PitchWheel addres, which is its own outside the CC or note range, and it reports 16bit (as any pitch bend should.) I fiddled around with the MIDI send controls but couldn't find a way to get it to talk on this special channel.
EDIT: I've got the fader LEDs working now. Didn't realize its the only item you do not control by echoing back on the same address. Its set via a CC that is plagued by the same problem as described below:
Second, I can't get the LED encoders to function properly with a slider. It is supposed to work within the CC value range of 0-12. Ive tried everything from 0-1, 0-12, 0-.12, all with and without normalizing, yet in every setting the encoder goes from zero to full .10 across the slider. I suspect the normalizing is only for within vdmx, as no matter what settings I give it I always see 0-127 when snooping on the MIDI output. Is this a bug or just a missing feature?
Would really love to get these resolved in VDMX so I don't have to write yet another bridge app.
