Somehow I find myself constantly mapping keyboards in vdmx, and it is a real pain. I'm constantly having to set up elaborate lists of receivers just to make something simple like a layer opacity that will be triggered by any key on a keyboard; and then editing each key in the inspector just to create another layer on a different midi channel. If there's a better way to do it I would love to hear it, but here are some thoughts on how to improve mapping midi notes in vdmx.
1) Detect midi range on all objects. You can detect a range on slider marks so why not on everything else?
2) adding some kind of wrap or modulus to marks. Often times I find it's not really necessary to map the entire keyboard and I would be content if I could map a single octave and then have the values repeat if a note was pressed outside of a given range.
again if any of this is already possible please let me know. I hope this gives you some food for thought and would greatly improve my life and anyone else who works with vdmx and keyboards.
thanks!
