1. Will VDMX run in Mac OS 10.10, also known as Yosemite?
YES – you can use VDMX in Yosemite.
Please make sure to install the latest update to VDMX for the best compatibility:
http://vidvox.net
2. Okay, so if I am updating to Yosemite, how do I go about that?
i. Check that your commonly used 3rd party plugins / hardware / software 10.10 are compatible.
ii. Back up all of your data.
The easiest way to do this is with a Time Machine backup, or you may feel more comfortable manually copying all of your important files, or using a 3rd party tool like Carbon Copy Cloner.
For the extra paranoid, do all of the above.
iii. Next, double check that you actually made a back-up all of your data before proceeding!
iv. If available use a second partition or hard drive so that you can keep a your old OS install if you need to downgrade.
v. Follow the install instructions from Apple- http://www.apple.com/macosx/how-to-buy/
3. What's different? Are there any known issues to be aware of?
Yosemite fixes a known system memory leak that existed in OS 10.9.x
Currently we aren't aware of any 10.10 specific problems, but as always we recommend caution!
4. What do I do if something goes wrong??
If you are having a problem with VDMX, send us an email at support@vidvox.net or use the Report Bug option in the Help menu.
If you installed over an existing OS X install and are having general system problems you may want to consider reinstalling Yosemite and then restoring any backed up data.
