here's how i got nice realtime video scratching on two turntables and the crossfader of my apc40 using ms pinky maxi-patch (audio only) and vdmx (video). thanks to adrock42 and mudo for planting the ideas with their posts.

IN VDMX

in vdmx/preferences
pref/OSC/input ports: create new (1234)
pref/OSC/dedicated controls: detect new (pinnkyleft and pinkyright)
in layer control
ctrl-click on left layer control movie time. use this data source: pinkyleft

ctrl-click/midi detect & move your midi crossfader
click "options" to edit fader curve or create your own behaviour chain.
load audio files into maxi-patch and videos into vdmx
have fun ; ) it certainly works out cheaper than two DVJ's and a video mixer . . . i look forward to doing this all out of ableton's session view with max for live and an iphone.
