Quicktime player seems to playback the VDMX recorded AIC files much paler, i think because it is applying the adobe rgb 1998 color profile that my monitor is set to. Every other program and also uploaded content to vimeo, youtube etc it looks pretty much like it did in vdmx. The only thing I can view it in where it looks similar is after effects when I turn color management on. Can somebody explain to me why I would want to view the AIc's in a way that nobody else will see? I'm battling to get my head around color management considering the applications, the os and the files themselves may or may not have color profiles applied. Does this make it possible to double-profile the look of a video (the file/app applies a profile then ur monitor profile is applied ontop of that?)
I've read and watched a bit on color management in osx but it's all for imagery rather than video, specifically quicktime. Can anyone recommend some sources of information on this?
