Hey'all,
I'm moving into regular gigs as a VJ, and looking to get a decent projector setup that should let me perform in as many scenarios as possible. My current thought is: short-throw projectors are almost definitely a better bet than normal, as the two main types of setups I can think of are:
- Back projecting from behind the sheet, backstage, and if the stage is shallow then a regular projector might not get a big enough picture
- Front projecting from the very front of the stage at an angle, once again a shallow stage would pose a problem for a regular projector.
Is this generally true? Are there common scenarios where I *wouldn't* want to find something with a pretty short throw? What variables other than throw distance, depths of the blacks, and lumens are important to consider?
