Thought I'd give a quick post here and fill people in on our progess with Grid Pro. Things are coming along very nicely now. We're going to try to have one of these updates once a week or so.
The transition engine is working very well, I can almost do transitions between full rez 30 fps DV movies without stuttering (it drops to about 24 fps during transitions on my dual 1 GHz G4 tower). Very likely that working with the Sheer codec, it'll be possible to run at 30 fps at 640 x 480 without any problems.
There are eight finished transition types: Blend, Additive, Subtractive, Max, Or, Slide, Push, and Zoom... still a few hiccups with the last three. Also looking to design two more transition types, I'll post some possibilities at some point for people to vote on.
The mixer has three different triggering modes, manual, auto-transition, and auto-blend.
There is a 16 slot note playback sequencer / queue. Works pretty well, a few wrinkles to pan out and the interface needs some tweaking.
Mr. Ray is working on a new top secret slider which is coming along nicely, but he won't let us touch it until it's done.
The transport controls (playback speed, volume, etc.) are implemented, but need major interface work that largely depends on the new slider.
The effects system is partly implemented, but not yet part of the program.. design of the interface also waiting on the slider.
The Grid is pretty darn swell... a few small interface glitches, all last minute stuff. The Grid can hold up to 600 clips (12 columns by 50 rows). The viewable area of the Grid varies depending on screen size, so the Grid scrolls, you can also jump to any row from the keyboard.
We've added a 2nd keyboard layout and currently working on designing a 3rd. Layout #2 uses the QWER, ASDF, and ZXCV keys for triggering, mode #3 will use the whole keyboard (most of it anyway).
Jack made a great new audio analysis controller, very efficient and accurate. In addition to the slider, Mr. Ray is working on gestures & oscillator controllers.
So the big three things on the GP to-do list are:
Interface
Controllers
Effects
Once a few more of the interface items are finished I'll post a screen shot.
