Okay, checked the quality of Motion JPEG A and B and Photo JPEG which all have better colour/contrast compared to the H.264 compression which is what i was using. The other difference is H.264 .mov files are about 2/3rds smaller in size. These clips are to be triggered with two AKAI mpc2000 samplers, so just wondering, because I've not done a live show yet (mid february), do I need to choose between the quality of the clips and the size of the clips as so not to over use the processor. Was also thinking of noding two computers together to get some super processing going on. They're to be triggered pretty quickly, looped then loops layered upon other loops. Hope i've conveyed that well enough.
Or how would i make a quartz composition to trigger clips. I've been trying to trigger several clips with just a keyboard, to test, onto a sprite in quartz but can't seem to get it to work. Do I need to set the time base to external? but then still it doesn't seem to work. Or use a number of sprites but then there are layers to think of. Or should I make a small program in MAX/MSP and use that separtely to VDMX for the show? Giving myself a sore brain with this one. If the clips arn't pretty much 0 latency there's not much point in doing it. But there has to be a way, there always is isn't there? If anyone can help then wow! Ta Chris
