i cant figure out why, but sometimes txt files appear very jaggy, as if rendered at 320 x 240 or something. although mostly they render at output res. ive played around with all sorts of combinations of layers and their source res settings, as well as media inspector settings and triggering order. not being able to reproduce it other than randomly. whats happening?
its with the qc txt sources that you have included, but i dont remember if ive modified them at some point. not modified any font size/width/height parameters though.
its not based on the length of the string. i found the longest string on my system, pasted the text three times, - no haappen. actually, its not happened tonight at all. two nights ago alot.
it seemed to happen mostly with a font that i checked now, is of true type (PC) format. did checking in fontexplorer x. might be the font afterall..?
thanks anyway
If you could confirm that you have an issue with a particular font please let me know so I can try to repeat it on my end. Perhaps try doing an Image from String straight to a billboard in Quartz Composer using the PC font to see what happens. Even if there isn't much that can be done about it, we generally like to know as much about even the smallest of issues.
As a note, as a result of you mentioning this I did notice that there is a small issue with the Simple Scrolling qtz patch.. namely that if you try to have it display a very wide string (a couple hundred characters at a time or if the font size is set to be very big), it tries to create an image that is bigger than Quartz Composer can handle which can cause the output to look like it was rendered at a much lower resolution and scaled up. The past week I've been tinkering around with other methods for doing horizontal scrolling text that don't rely on having a single very wide image, so far without much luck though I have been avoiding using any new objects in QC3 so that the patch will work for folks still in Tiger. Aside from getting this working nicely in VDMX, I think there is a lot of demand in the QC community for a good method for doing horizontal scrolling text for obvious reasons.
