Talk about interactive languages like Quartz Composer, ISF, Vuo, FFGL, CoreImage, Processing, OpenFrameworks, or whatever else you are using to make live visuals.
Wondering what the vote is, with where development is at with both Quartz Composer and ISF if you didn't know either and wanted to invest your time which is the one to learn first?
Quartz is really simple and compares to vvvv or Max for example.
ISF is based on GSLS, and so means per pixel programing. It requires basic programming skills and anything slightly complex will be extremely hard.
Let's say: you want to do a circle; in QC you would just drag the circle patch, in ISF you would have to code each pixel color based on a circle equation.
ISF is awesome for effects but I won't risk myself beyond this.
Quartz Composer is probably a better place to start, you can do quite a bit more with it.
The idea behind ISF is that for stuff that can be done with GLSL alone you can be very optimized versions to use with VDMX.
In fact, since ISF just a simple wrapper for the GLSL shader language and there's also a GLSL object in QC, anything you do with ISF can likely be done in QC, but not the other way around.
