Hi All,
Just learning VDMX and I have kind of a broad question.
I come from a textual performance background, so I want a solution that will let me enter text on the fly and manipulate it in various structures.
So, for instance:
Type in 16 words
They appear on a line
Then move into a grid
The grid folds into a cube
Which becomes a rubik's cube.
I have lots of use cases like that and I'm wondering what potential solutions there are?
I would be using these types of visuals along with video remixing, live music and audience participation.
As I'm looking into this I am seeing a TON of potential paths, such as
- create something in QC or VUO for direct control through VDMX
- create something in Unity and pipe through Syphon and control through OSC
- something something After Effects?
Essentially, what I'd love advice on is options for doing this that:
a) play really nice with live control
b) flow really smooth into VDMX
c) leverage pre-built assets, libraries, plugins, etc so I don't have to do all of this from scratch.
I'm not an amazing coder but I can pretty quickly grok most things, but want to minimize my time "in the guts" of a program as much as possible.
Appreciate any and all advice or perspective, thanks!
Adam
For reference, here's a project I have online:
http://swarm.therealadamgood.com/
Built in JS / HTML
pulls text from spreadsheet
So...something like that, but with smoother ability to input text on the fly and manipulate visual appearance.
