Not your typical application of VDMX, but my band wanted to live stream, and doing so on a phone is pretty beat imo. So I decided to buy a copy of VDMX and figure out how to use its features for a live stream. Bear in mind, I'm not a VJ and don't know the first thing about this stuff professionally, but know enough to be dangerous. This is the result.

Here, I put up a green screen, used two wide angle USB cameras and an MAudio Keystation61 for midi control. Then I used OBS to scrape a display and stream to Facebook. OBS supported the audio interface. So audio and VDMX video had to be married there. A couple clap tests showed I needed to delay OBS audio by about 75ms. It sync'd suprisingly well. But there has to be a better way to sync an audio stream? I see timecode support, but can't imagine how that would work with live audio. Can audio be passed through VDMX? Anyway, the video was fed to a display that the band could use to monitor.
The cool thing is that our vocalist played around with the MIDI controller for a few minutes prior to doing this - hasn't a lick of knowledge about VDMX but warmed right up to controlling the video stream. I thought that was interesting.
I would appreciated criticisms, pointers, ideas etc. VDMX is a fun environment to work in, and am interested in taking it to the next level. Am I barking up the wrong tree? What is a good MIDI control surface? Does anyone use it for live streaming?
