Had a five hour party with VDMX on waterscreen yesterday,
my first VDMX gig and the first time I had the chance to play around with it for more than one hour.
Results: WOW! totally stunned, played three 640x 480 clips from usb drive almost without any hickups - jsut one clip seemed to be a bit on the slow side, but that was prolly because of the slow drive. Had some beat controlled zoom fx going. The screen layout was gripPro style (wanted to be on the safe side) plus an additional luma mask layer and live input via dazzle hollywood bridge. I have to say I was a bit intimidated at first sight, but I find vdmx even more intuitive than gPRO - most of the time. Two points I had problems with tho:
I couldn't get a preview for the luma layer, didn't show up in the menue when I created an additional preview. Neither could I get a preview for the FINAL output, only the mix of top and bottom layer, not the mix of all three. I could neither find the RGB delay - an old favourite.
And once again I wished I knew how to use QC properly - next one on the list.
About the waterscreen: Totally stunning looking! I personally was to close to see much, but from the back of the room, it looked amazing. Cool side effect: Because of the transparency of the screen, the image was also visible on the ceiling of the building. Had a pretty strong projector, so it looked really good. Will post a few pics as soon as the photographer sends them.
