Hi all,
I had some trouble finding the perfect interface for VDMX.
But since 2 weeks I have my Lemur, and yesterday I used it for the first time.
Unfortunately I only had my iPhone to shoot some pics:
I controlled two MBP's running VDMX. One signal was going to the pyramid screen in the center of the dancefloor.
And the other source was going to all the flatscreens and beamers.
This the interface I used for the left MBP (beamers & lcds).
The tap BPM button is not final. I got a MIDI clock signal from my RedSound MicroSync. I have to delete this button.
This is the interface I used to control some of the effects (I also had layer specific effects).
The 2 balls deliever X&Y coordinates for Smear & Twirl (for example).
And its so much fun to change the Duotone colors on the fly.
Here is the screen for the right MBP (pyramid screen). I used memo's quad warp qz. But I changed the qz file. First I needed two images from one source, because one beamer projects on 2 surfaces (= 2 beamers for 1 pyramid). Second, if you are working with triangles, some corners need to be off the actual screen, to make the transformation large enough. So I had to largen the canvas by 3.
Then I programmed an interface on the Lemur, to easily grab and move the 4 corners with my fingertips. I can switch between the left & the right image. Plus: I can "fine-adjust" each corner with the RingArea.
It was my first gig without a safety belt (video mixer + dvd player running). But everything worked fine together, nothing crashed or behaved strange.
Now where the hardware is working like a dream, its time again to focus on the creative content.
I'm pretty pretty happy with that set-up. Everything fits in 2 bags and its very flexible.
I didnt touch one of the MBP's during the whole night. The Lemur was a dream to perform on.
Maybe I post a video in a couple of days.
Have a nice week-end!
