Last February I played what turned out to be the most challenging gig of my VJ career so far. Initially, I was asked to do a "normal" gig with a couple of screens all more or less showing the same footage - so I thought it was going to be in SD. I was going to pack my MBP and iPad along with a V4 to take the 300 km train ride to Cologne.
It took a while until I was told that the "normal" gig was indeed a gig with nine!! screens each running at WUXGA rez and a screensize of 8x5 m. Four of the screens were going to be rotated by 90 degrees. So instead of my traveling gear, I took my MBP, my hackintosh and called for help which came in person of Mr VJloops Kyle Lyons who threw one more MBP in the ring. So we ended up doing this massive gig involving 27 projectors, HD mixers, Watchout system (the day show was programmed by the same person who had created part of the Beijing olympics opening ceremony), SDI 720p cams, EDID managers, fiber optics DVI cables which ran more than 250m to the main mixer. The singer you can see in one of the two photos is Germany's most successful singer, Sarah Connor whose show we also did visually. Long weeks of preparation finally lead to a show I'm quite proud of:
