Hey everyone!
As you might be aware today Apple is set to release their new OS update, version 10.11, also known as El Capitan.
For those who are planning on updating their Macs, here are some quick answers to some common questions we expect from VDMX users:
1. Will VDMX run in Mac OS 10.11, also known as El Capitan?
YES – you can use VDMX in El Capitan, with version b8.5.0.0 or later.
Please make sure to install the latest update to VDMX for the best compatibility:

2. How do I go about updating to El Capitan?
i. Check that your commonly used 3rd party plugins / hardware / software 10.11 are compatible. If so, make sure you have the latest versions.
(If you aren’t sure, ask)
ii. Back up all of your data.
The easiest way to do this is with a Time Machine backup, or you may feel more comfortable manually copying all of your important files, or using a 3rd party tool like Carbon Copy Cloner.
For the extra paranoid, do all of the above.
iii. Next, double check that you actually made a back-up all of your data before proceeding!
iv. If available use a second partition or hard drive so that you can keep a your old OS install if you need to downgrade.
(When possible we also strongly recommend doing a totally fresh OS install and then re-installing any 3rd party software / drivers / plugins, instead of doing a restore or upgrade install)
v. Follow the install instructions from Apple- http://www.apple.com/macosx/how-to-buy/
3. What's different in 10.11?
According to the Apple DTS team and our own tests, it appears that El Capitan fixes some CoreImage issues from 10.9 and 10.10 that many users were running into.
4. Are there any known issues to be aware of?
We’ve noticed that a very small handful of older VDMX QC based FX (specifically iterator cube / cylinder / sphere and zoom echo) no longer work.
[edit – I think we'll be able to get these to work in the next update...]
If you use SoundFlower, try using the latest v2 releases:

5. What do I do if something goes wrong??
If you are having a problem with VDMX, send us an email at support@vidvox.net or use the Report Bug option in the Help menu.
If you installed over an existing OS X install and are having general system problems you may want to consider reinstalling 10.11 and then restoring any backed up data.
